About The Role

We are a forward thinking, supportive, innovative practice who are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Band 5, Practice Nurse to complement our team. This is an opportunity to help us shape and develop the Practice Nurse role at Chapelford Medical Centre to ensure we achieve the best care to our patients

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Supporting on the day duties
  • Minor injuries and illnesses
  • Working autonomously and under pressure
  • Effectively assess, diagnose and manage wounds and know when to escalate to secondary care
  • Conduct a range of community investigations for patients as required, including ECGs and Spirometry (any necessary training will be given)
  • Ear syringing
  • Administer, as required, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, including B12 injections and childhood immunisations
  • Conduct long-term condition reviews with patients, including Diabetic and Asthma reviews
  • Assist in providing emergency care to patients in the surgery, including basic life support
  • Attend Practice Meetings
  • Work as a member of a coordinated Nurse team and take part in joint projects.
  • Attend such training courses as may be required to maintain professional qualifications and expertise
  • Have an interest in, and commitment to, continuous professional development

Competencies:

Undergraduate nursing degree

Experience in wound care, ulcer dressings and compression bandaging

X

Knowledge of current Nice guideline and local formularies

X

 

Suture / clip removal and assessment of post-surgical / trauma wounds.

X

 

Chronic disease experience

X

Skills at documentation and managing own workload

X

Auditing caseload and cases closed

X

Active registration with the NMC

X

 

Able to provide evidence of meeting NMC revalidation requirements
