About The Role

We’re looking for a forward-thinking GP who can lead and work in a dynamic, innovative healthcare environment, whilst delivering outstanding care to our patients. This role would be perfect for a GP who is eager to take on a senior leadership role within a practice and to gain exposure to digital health, without the risks or responsibilities of a GP Partnership. Especially, we’re looking for a team-player, who is comfortable working as the senior clinical decision maker and supporting the wider practice team.

Role overview:

As a GP working at the interface of traditional and digital Primary Care, you will be critical to our mission of delivering the very best in primary care at the push of a button. This exciting opportunity will see you working at Chapelford Medical Centre, a pioneering and newly created ‘Digital First’ GP Surgery, consulting with traditional GP patients, supporting the interface between traditional and digital services and providing clinical leadership to the wider practice team.

Salary is £11500 per session. In addition to this, there are opportunities to supplement this post with flexible hours worked remotely using Push Doctor’s video consultation software; these opportunities can be discussed further on application.

Sessions overview:

You will work 4-10 clinical sessions in the practice per week, each lasting 4 hours nominally. This will include allotted time for clinical admin and practice leadership. Start and finish times are flexible and can fit around other commitments, although there is a preference for afternoon sessions and a requirement that at least one of the sessions will end at 18:30.

Currently, the surgery is using telephone triage to minimise footfall during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sessions will therefore include a mix of telephone appointments, face to face appointments and referrals from other members of the practice team, including Push Doctor’s video-GPs who consult remotely. Home visits are very rare but may also be required, as will urgent requests for advice from third parties, such as district nurses, paramedics or secondary care.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis in an online, remote clinical setting

  • Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating drug and non-drug based treatment methods into a holistic management plan

  • Incorporate biopsychosocial perspectives, as well as the patient’s own ideas, concerns, expectations and levels of activation into personalised management plans

  • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

  • Adhere to evidence-based best practice and national guidelines in treating a wide range of clinical conditions

  • Maintain clear and contemporaneous consultation notes, to agreed standards, after each patient interaction within the practice clinical system.

  • Screen patient for disease risk factors and early signs of disease

  • Adopt the highest standards of Information Governance, ensuring that patient data is accessed, shared and stored safely and securely at all times.

  • Collaborate with the Push Doctor Medical Team in responding to complaints, significant events and other learning events to further your continued professional development.

  • Meet with the practice team regularly to provide clinical advice, embed learning from local/regional meetings and clinical incidents and contribute to the clinical strategy of the practice in collaboration with the Practice Manager and the Push Doctor Medical Team.

  • Provide advice, support and, as required, clinical supervision to other members of the multidisciplinary practice team.

  • Attend local/regional clinical meetings on behalf of the practice when required.

  • Lead specific clinical workstreams within the practice, taking responsibility for practice development and quality improvement that relates to these workstreams.

  • Work with the Practice Manager and Head of Digital First Practice to manage the priorities of a range of key stakeholders, including Push Doctor, the Primary Care Network and the CCG.

  • Assist the practice in fulfilling its contractual requirements and achieving key performance metrics, including those specified in QOF, helping to identify opportunities for improving quality of care and the patient experience.
